Hi there! Welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m a freelance writer and editor with a PhD in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University. My passion is exploring the rich connections between arts and culture, spirituality, and social justice—and weaving them into compelling stories and thoughtful analysis.
In previous chapters of my career, I’ve been a professor specializing in postcolonial literature at universities across Ontario and an associate editor at Broadview, North America’s longest-running magazine. These experiences have sharpened my eye for detail and deepened my commitment to meaningful work.
My niche is empowering academics to write for broader audiences by blending journalistic techniques with scholarly expertise. I see writing as both a critical and creative journey, and I love guiding writers—new and seasoned—at every stage, across all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: language has the power to transform how we think, how we feel, and how we live.
I call the rural village of Elora, Ontario, home, where my ideal day is spent writing and wandering its trails. That breathtaking image on my homepage? It’s Skellig Michael—a rugged, otherworldly island off Ireland’s Atlantic coast that once sheltered monks seeking solitude and spiritual clarity. Its stark beauty reminds me that we’re all just clinging to this rock, trying to hold onto simple truths without slowly losing our minds—and maybe, just maybe, creating something worthwhile along the way.
